   TrainPlayer Hobby Shop
Campaign

May 06: This campaign is temporarily suspended.  Materials are out of stock.  Please do not fill out an application until we resume the campaign.

TrainPlayer User:

Our target audience spends a lot of time hanging around the local hobby shop.  We'd like them to find evidence of TrainPlayer there.  We're looking for volunteers to visit their local shops, deliver promotional materials, explain the products, and make a little money in the process.

Here's how it works.

  1. You fill out the application below, giving us your contact info and preferences.

  2. We send you a TrainPlayer Hobbyshop Sales Kit, which contains:

    • 30 flyers, on card stock, to be displayed in the shop's book rack
    • 30 stickers having your own unique coupon code
    • a complimentary CD of TrackLayer Deluxe for the shop
    • a copy of the TrainPlayer review from Model Railroad News (Jan 06)

  3. You put the stickers on the flyers.  They fit in the upper right of the postcard, as shown in the picture below.

  4. Visit your local shop.  Present the kit, explain yourself, talk up TrainPlayer.  Maybe take a laptop and give them a demo.

We're not asking the shop to sell, stock, or support software.  Most of them don't, and don't want to.  We're just asking for two square inches of shelf space among the track plan books -- preferably right next to "101 Track Plans" -- to offer free flyers to interested customers.

  5. An interested customer takes home a flyer.

  6. Decides to buy.  Enters the sticker's coupon code on the order, and thereby gets a 15% discount.

  7. We process the order, spot your coupon code, and credit you with a 15% commission on the sale.  If the buyer chooses TrackLayer Deluxe, your take is $12.

  8. Check back with the shop now and then to see if they need more flyers.

That's the basic idea.  Variations are possible.  The coupon code could be assigned to the store instead of to you, so they get the proceeds, and all you do is hand over a package.  You could display these materials at a train show or meet instead of a hobby shop.  We're open to other suggestions -- use the "Special requests" box or send e-mail.

This program is limited to licensed users.  If you'd like to participate, please fill out the form and we'll contact you by e-mail.
